We all lead busy, fast-paced lives. It seems that the world constantly demands so much of our attention. From the chores in the house to full-time jobs, to having children, we never seem to catch a break. Finding some true stillness when the first streaks of sun rays hit the land, can be critical in our mental health. Our bodies were not meant to live in such a stressful place. This is why morning routines help us to set the tone for the rest of the day. It allows us to control our schedules, rather than having the day control us. We can only benefit from some slowed-down alone time.
Everyone is unique, therefore there is no one “correct” morning regime. Break that mold that TikTok has shoved down our faces as the ideal “THAT” girl. Morning rituals are not 3 hours consisting of pilates, green smoothies, and pristine white bed sheets. Do what works for YOU. And if you happen to sleep in on the weekends, don’t be so hard on yourself. Everyone’s routine is going to be different based on them. The following are suggestions, so take what you like and leave what you don’t.
benefits of a morning routine:
- self-disciple (the first action you do sets your tone for the rest of the day)
- provides you with structure
- promotes better time management
- calms morning anxiety because sitting in bed can make it worse
- you get a chance to sit with yourself before the day starts (it’s like the calm before the storm!! this may be the only stillness you experience throughout the day)

my “routine”
This can shift depending on if my body needs more rest and how motivated I am.

- recall dreams
- brush teeth
- breathwork/meditate
- yoga
now let’s create one for you…
Don’t overthink it. Here are some key ingredients for you when you wake up to be the best version of yourself:
- some form of stillness (could be drinking tea in silence or meditation or reading/some quiet time before the world demands your attention
- need some sort of mindless movement (brush teeth, tidy room, wash dishes)
- some sort of stretching/movement (2-minute walk, yoga flow)
Some important things to consider in a morning routine are how it makes YOU feel. Morning routines don’t need to be this 12-step rigid must-follow orderly task that you dread every morning. Fill your mornings with peace and silence, before the world demands your attention. You can sit in stillness, however you define this. It could mean looking out the window for 2 minutes or following along in a guided meditation. Having some sort of mindless movement in the morning will allow the body to naturally wake up. This could include making your bed, washing the dishes from the night before and feeling the warm water on your skin, or even tidying up a few things. This isn’t a 2 hour deep clean-brushing your teeth (cleaning yourself!!) will do the trick.
closing thoughts
The key is to stay off your phone for at least a half hour once you get up. If you are someone who gets up and checks their phone, start slow with this goal. Give yourself the peace before your day begins barking orders at you. The chaotic lives we lead are not good for our mental health and well-being. We have come on this planet as human BEINGS, not human DOINGS. Simply be with yourself in the brisk, dimly lit, soft mornings. These morning routines don’t need to be perfect every single day. If you need to sleep in on the weekends, honor your body’s ask in doing so. The most important note to take away from this is to create something that will work for you. When you prioritize self-care, you show up for those you love as the best version of yourself.
much love, peace & vibez 2 u & all beings everywhere
